2 years ago, I started doing Bikram yoga with no prior yoga experience. On my third session I felt tight across my chest and panicked as I couldn't breathe. I lay down on my mat and chocked back tears for 10 mins before leaving. Overwhelmed by the experience, I didn't return.
Last week I began taking yoga classes at my gym. Again, in my third lesson, the tears began during a neck stretch. They rolled down my face for a good 15 minutes before I had to stop and lay down.
My teacher explained this emotional release and to learn more and confirm that I'm not crazy, I'm googling away.
Do these experiences mean that I have some issues that perhaps I'm not dealing with or my body and mind are less connected? My friend has been doing yoga for years and not felt this, It's scary when it's happening to me so early in my yoga experience. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.
