Port Vincent, South Australia

My wife is a star!

Every year for almost two decades while I was growing up in Australia our family spent Christmas holidays and countless weekends at this small, beachside town. The format of the holiday was always the same: outdoor BBQs, snorkelling, kayaking, a dabble of beach cricket, etc; but the familiarity of what to expect is partly what makes a trip there so relaxing and stress-free. I rarely sit still for too long (a vacation to me is more about mental relaxation from work rather than anything physical), so I like to get in the water and splash around looking for fish, crabs and rays, and Port Vincent is the ideal place to do that without setting yourself any strict itinerary or plans.

Fine Brew, historical site..fantastic day!

Why do I love Tasmania for a stress-free vacation? Wine, cheese, chocolate...all food for the soul. Then there is the fantastic scenery, Wineglass Bay, Strahan, Cradle Mountain and Bruny Island! Wildlife and wild flowers. Great company! No stress! It is such a small place but it is jam packed with things to do.

I have gone every year (except this one) for the last 4 years. I feel at peace there the minute the plane lands. I have NEVER had a bad time in Tassie! Even when the whole family went... we were there for 2 1/2 wks... we went caving, hiking, oyster farming, fishing, we visited Port Arthur, the Tahune Air Walk, Salamanca Markets, Ashgrove Cheese Farm, Various Wineries, Penguin Colony on Bruny Island and the Rasberry Farm.

It is truly a beautiful, peaceful, stress-free, place.

Sydney, Australia

I used to live there in my 20s, graduated there so have many close friends who I don't see often enough due to distance between Australia and the UK. When I go back it's like slipping back into lost time (my 20s!) - it only takes five minutes for friends to look exactly the way they used to without the grey hairs and wrinkles accumulated over 30 years, so I feel just the same too. I can go on holiday here without spending anything more than the flight (expensive enough!) and just stay with friends and reminisce about student days. They all get together (even if they don't see each other much normally), give parties for me, take me out - and it's the most relaxing thing in the world, even if over the other side of it.
